Hoi and happy #PrideMonth – I’m Monika. (she / her) ️🌈 🇵🇱 🇩🇪 🇨🇭 Find me on the fifth floor of Haus Hiltl in the Hiltl Akademie. 😄 For the past 2 years, I’ve been the head of the cooking oasis and manage all the cooking courses! 💚 While studying political science, I worked in a kitchen at the same time and ended up spending more time chopping vegetables than over books. 📚 After 3 years of studying, I decided my place was in the restaurant industry and started a chef apprenticeship as the oldest apprentice. 👩🍳 I then gave up my later post as head chef and after some further training took on the role of entrepreneur and then management in other establishments. 🙌 In the meantime, I have found my dream job at the Hiltl Akademie – not only do I enjoy the work immensely, but also the collaboration with my team.
I moved from Cologne to Zurich with my girlfriend and then decided without further ado to sign up for a fooseball club. There I met some super cool people from Zurich, with whom I then met regularly in the evenings in bars for “Töggele”! ⚽️
In addition, I have a penchant for promoting hobbies in which I simply have no talent. For example, there is stand-up paddling, in which I seek balance on sunny days but usually end up splashing into the water than stand on the board. 🏄♀️💦
Do you know why the month of June is especially close to my heart? It’s Pride Month! 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️ Fortunately, the LGBTQ movement in Switzerland and also the rest of the world is getting stronger and the topic is in the public eye. By the way, the Hiltl team has been super diverse for years, with people from over 80 nations, different religions, skin colors and sexual orientations. That’s why I always feel comfortable and safe here. 🥰
I don’t have a fixed motto for life, but I have learned that you have to try new things and not be afraid of failure. My experiences have been positive so far, even if not always successful. The most important thing is not to lose confidence in yourself and dare to jump over your own shadow. 😎
